Frequently Asked Questions

We know choosing Doula is a big decision. Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often. Don't see your question? Reach out—we're happy to chat.

Doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. Unlike medical providers who focus on clinical care, doulas focus on comfort, advocacy, and education. We're there to support you—not replace your medical team, but to complement the care you receive.
Absolutely not! We support all types of births—unmedicated, medicated, vaginal, cesarean, hospital, birth center, or home. Our role is to support YOUR birth preferences, whatever they may be. A positive birth experience is about feeling informed, respected, and supported.
Midwives are clinical care providers who monitor your health and your baby's health, perform exams, and can deliver babies. Doulas do not provide medical care—we provide emotional and physical support. Many families work with both a midwife and a doula for comprehensive care.
The earlier, the better! Many clients reach out during their first or second trimester, which gives us plenty of time to build a relationship and prepare together. That said, we've supported clients who reached out at 38 weeks. It's never too late.
Once you're at term (around 37-38 weeks), we're on call 24/7. We stay in close communication as labor progresses and time our arrival to ensure we're there when you need us. In the rare case of a precipitous labor, we'll support you by phone until we arrive.
Absolutely! Partners are a crucial part of the birth team. We work WITH your partner, not instead of them. We offer guidance on comfort measures, give them breaks when needed, and help them feel confident in their supportive role. Many partners tell us they couldn't have done it without doula support.
Yes, we understand that birth support is an investment, and we want to make it accessible. We offer flexible payment plans and can discuss options during our initial consultation. Some HSA/FSA accounts can be used for doula services as well.
We primarily serve the greater Los Angeles area, including surrounding communities. For those outside our service area, we offer virtual doula support for prenatal preparation and labor guidance via video call.
